salsa its born in puerto rico not in cuba !

  2. |

there are dance styles all over the world in which there are hip movements, but that doesn’t neccessarily mean that they all came from belly dancing…i dont see what harm there is in admitting that…different people can think similarily cant they? :-)

minus the fact that spain was ruled by moors and had VERY strong cultural and religious ties to the arab world until around 1500 CE. and the fact that musically andalucia (the region known from flamenco) has been connected to north africa (a muslim area) since way before then.
on the other hand, ethnically, the movements of salsa and samba have west african roots, as the dances originated from slaves.

what ??? bellydancing is not mother of salsa my love that’s ridiculous…salsa was developed in cuba from the “son” and “mambo”

  6. |

Flamenco: strong energetic, commanding. oriental: flowing, sensual, ultra feminine The fusions of the two always end up ridiculous. You can not cross apples and oranges.

  7. |

.What you said is NOT true. It may be mother to salsa and samba because both feature hip isolations but is DEFINITELY not the mother to flamenco. Flamenco has no hip and ribcage movements, is much more complex , refined and is a true artform. E.g. belly dance I can do naturally but flamenco I’ve been wrestling with for 5 years till I learnt it. Flamenco is like ballet very demading not a folk dance. flamenco is Spanish not Arab so the two woudn’t be connected.

It`s abiously Bellydance is mother for flamenco, samba and salsa..don`t reply me. ha,ha,ha

The shimmy is just a simple weight shift from one leg to the other. Once you go fast enough it becomes a vibration.

  10. |

this looks like a good beginners video to dance. yea this stuff really does work you out A LOT!!! i hope they make different levels because i want to learn new moves lol

danskin is where I used to get them for dance

  12. |

wallyworld has some pants, but not this type.. ty for your response..

  13. |

  14. |

i really like Elsa’s Bellydance with zills instructional dvd. i liker her tequnique even better than Ansuya’s and we all know Ansuya is a zill master.

  15. |

LOL ok.. this is a good video but i have a ridiculous question!! where do you buy ‘those particular black pants they are wearing?’

  16. |

I used to be an awesome dancer all around but after having 2 kids and not dancing for about 7 years, I’ve lost it. This video is totally helping me get back into things. The only thing I can’t do on this video is the shimmy :(

ALL OF YOU GUYS TALK TO MUCH!!

  18. |

    wow this looks great!!!
i agree elsa does not have great technique for bellydance. but i ve always shyed away from flamenco, latin, and bollywood indian style.. her moves look doable will get this for me!!!

  19. |

I agree with you on that first comment. You’re not going to become a ballroom dancer or any such thing through this, but it does make working out fun. That’s why I began studying Middle Eastern dance. It certainly got me up and moving. I haven’t used this video, but it definitely looks like fun.

I’ve studied under Elsa and that woman is PHENOMENAL! I have studied with several teachers in NYC and for me, Elsa is the best hands down. This video doesn’t do justice for what she can do when she’sin front of you.

  21. |

its an excersize video! not a preparation for a competition nor a instructional video. These excersizes look great! I command you on your versitility and the fact that you have studied in more than only one genre. I think this type of video is great for people who want to lose the weight especially in the hips waist and thighs! thats what these dances target. congrats … i’m gonna get some of these soon.

I have more than 100 exercise dvds but this one is by far my favorite. It is a fitness workout but it gives you the feeling that you are dancing.

  23. |

In this trailer, the visuals and the music are out of sync. This makes the performances look “off”. I bought the DVD and Elsa Leandros must be in her forties, which gives her many years of training and practice. All her performances in the DVD are flawless.

  24. |

“Excerisetape” should really do what they preach, as far as background checks are concerned, especially with regard to spelling!!! Otherwise, in dance as in any other department (e.g. writing), practise is key…

  25. |

how can one person be so good and so many dances? Its called PRACTICE. And obviously your trying to defend the indian culture as far as possible but obviously you have no idea what your talking about. “QUANTITY IS NOT QUALITY” ok well tell me why india makes MORE MOVIES then any other place in the world and also makes the shittiest? Check yourself before you go on making alligations about something you have no background info on. (and nice way to to spell “good”)
